Ferris State University hopes to break the world record for blowing bubble gum bubbles at a campus event Thursday at 6 pm on the quad.

Organizers of the “Bubblegum Blast” said they hope to get more than 1,000 participants to blow bubblegum bubbles.

The current record is 881.

Michele Albright is with Ferris State University.

“So we applied for the Guinness Book of World Records to challenge an existing record to blow the most bubble gum bubbles out of bubblegum at one event.”

Albright said the university plans to begin a tradition this year to challenge a world record.

She said community members are encouraged to join in.

Bubblegum will be provided.

The event is scheduled for 6:00 pm Thursday, September 6th on the quad at Ferris State University.
