A statewide listening tour is launching this month to expand service and volunteerism throughout the state.

The tour will give community leaders a chance to share thoughts on how volunteers could help address some of Michigan’s biggest issues.

Jason Alexander is the communications director with the Michigan Community Service Commission.

“We’ll just be looking for ideas to, you know, identify challenges, new ideas that may be for programs or support or resources or convening and connecting, you know we’ll be looking for those ideas from community leaders.”

Alexander said tours of this magnitude typically occur once every four or five years.

The listening tour is scheduled to make a dozen stops between the end of August and the beginning of November. Cities include Traverse City, Midland, and Flint.

More information on the tour is at the MCSC website.
