The state is advising propane customers this year to lock-in prices before winter hits.

Following the recent heatwave, perhaps not many people are thinking about winter heating options.

But the Michigan Agency for Energy says acting now will translate into cost-savings.

Judy Palnau (pal-now) is the spokesperson with the agency. She said there are benefits to buying now beyond just saving cash.

“You’ll be getting a better price and you’ll also have a supply you can rely on. You might recall a few years ago we had the winter of the polar vortex, and that was the year Michigan had a propane gas supply crisis-along with thirty other states.”

Palnau said propane prices tend to mirror oil prices, and unfortunately, gas is on the rise.
