Jack Lessenberry – a longstanding Michigan journalist – has stepped down from his position as a columnist at the Metro Times.

Lessenberry says the Metro Times should not have suspended him after an article in Deadline Detroit accused Lessenberry of sexual misconduct. Lessenberry says no one has come forward to file a formal complaint at Wayne State University where he’s an instructor or any of his other employers.

“It’s what I wouldn’t really call journalism. There are a lot of anonymous and pseudo-anonymous charges some things that are flatly not true, probably most of them.”

The article details allegations of inappropriate touching and remarks. The women say Lessenberry misused his power and influence most recently while at Wayne State – but also while an editor in Memphis in the 1990’s.
