Interim Michigan State University President John Engler has instructed school employees to cooperate with investigations into campus sexual misconduct.

In a letter to faculty and other employees, Engler said these are likely the “most difficult times ever faced by MSU.” And he instructed them to preserve documents and other possible evidence that could be sought by investigators

The school faces state and federal criminal investigations, inquiries by Congress and the state Legislature, and an examination by the NCAA.

Engler also named an interim athletic director to replace Mark Hollis. He says a national search is underway for a permanent replacement, and that no internal candidate would be considered for the job.
