As local health departments continue vaccinating seniors and essential workers, some health care workers are still waiting.

Mark Beardslee works for Comfort Keepers, where he provides in-home nursing for seven seniors in Cheboygan.

Since January he’s been aggressively trying to get a vaccine so he doesn’t infect his patients.

Beardslee says the health department told him he was on a list that went in order of who signed up first.

Just Friday he got an appointment, for March.

“I don’t know what ever happened to my registration, my preregistration. I don’t know if that was even effective. If they lost it or what. I never got a call until I kept pressing.”

Comfort Keepers says the majority of their caregivers have not received the vaccine.

They say some of their employees may have deferred while others have not been able to snag a spot.
