The hot summer days have sent water temperatures in the Great Lakes soaring.

Surface-water temperatures of Lake Michigan are ranging from 70-78 degrees, which is well above average.

Meteorologist for the US National Weather Service in Gaylord Sabrina Jauernic said water temperatures are “well beyond” normal.

“For early July we are typically looking at around 58 to 59 degrees fahrenheit,” she said.

She said the high temperatures are nothing to be concerned about.

“It will take one good wind storm to mix that up and bring temperatures down,” Jauernic said.
