The number of confirmed and suspected cases of severe lung disease associated with vaping in Michigan inched higher this week.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services has identified 36 confirmed or probable vaping related lung disease cases, including one fatality.  Another dozen cases are under investigation.

The Centers for Disease Control says there have been nearly 15 hundred cases nationwide…including 33 deaths in 24 states.

The cause of the outbreak is unclear…though there is suspicion black market THC vaping products may play a role.

The rising numbers come after a judge this week struck down Michigan’s ban on flavored vaping products.

Michigan’s Attorney General is appealing the judge’s ruling.
