Thursday marks the fifth anniversary of Flint’s drinking water source switch, which started the city’s water crisis.

The crisis created a host of health issues for Flint’s nearly 100 thousand residents.

Doctor Mona Hanna Attisha revealed Flint’s tap water was exposing the city’s children to elevated levels of lead.

She says a special registry is helping to see if efforts to mitigate exposure to the lead is working.

“It’s about identifying folks that were exposed and most importantly getting them connected, and supported and counted, and following them long-term to see how they’re doing."

The Flint Registry is hosting sign up events across the city on Thursday.
