Triple A Michigan is providing tips for older drivers to help keep them on the roads longer.

Experts said drivers who are 65 and older are more likely to be injured or killed in a serious car accident.

Gary Bubar is with AAA Michigan. He said there are a number of simple, inexpensive things drivers can do to not only stay safe, but also stay on the roads longer.

“Some of the things that change over time, one is vision. You begin to lose some of your side vision so if you can add convex mirrors or purchase them with a new car that give you more vision to the sides kind of replacing some of the peripheral vision that you lose.”

Bubar said things like seat cushions, steering wheel covers, and pedal extensions can improve line of sight, and give people with arthritic hand joints better grip.
