Professors at Ferris State University are still without a contract after University officials met with the union Wednesday.

According to the Ferris Faculty Association, which represents tenured faculty, the University offered an increased salary offer of  2.25%. Up from their initial offer of 1.5%.

But, officials with the Faculty Association say that increase was made by pulling money out of the Supplemental Market Adjustment fund - which helps compensate professors who are underpaid based on market averages.

Charles Bacon, with the Faculty Association, said faculty are currently emailing him with their opinions on whether they should take the deal. He said so far an overwhelming majority of professors are opposed to taking the deal.

The University did not respond to our request for comment.
