Two Genesee County high schools have been added to a list of 71 schools throughout Michigan that work with a program to help students transition into postsecondary education.

The program is called Advise Michigan. It’s a part of the Michigan College Access Network which works to increase college enrollment and completion rates in the state.

Melissa Steward is the Director of Advise Michigan.

“We imbed well trained, dedicated, near-peer college advisors into high schools across the state that serve significant numbers of low income and first generation college going students.”

Steward said advisors help students with financial aid, schedule campus tours, prepare for admissions exams, and find schools that are a good fit.

Advisors come from 17 partner institutions, which include, Ferris State University, Saginaw Valley State and CMU.
