As protestors gathered in Lansing, one industry group affected by the governor’s stay-at-home orders was asking their members to steer away from public protests.

Green industries across the state have shut down under the stay-at-home order. But the Michigan Nursery and Landscape Association is asking people to stop protesting and stay home.

In a written statement, the association said it’s concerned that protests could cause undue stress on first responders.

The association is asking the state to lift work regulations. They say a majority of their businesses will have lasting impacts from the spring closure, unless they can persuade the state to let them work.

According to the organization, they have a list of strict guidelines and policies independent garden retailers are willing to put into place to create a safe, zero-contact environment for employees and customers.
