Officials with the Ford Motor Company say the automaker will make cuts to its global, white-collar workforce as part of an ongoing restructuring plan.

Analysts say Ford has been losing money pretty much everywhere except North America, and is eliminating sedan production in the US to focus mostly on trucks and crossover vehicles.

Now Ford officials say they want to streamline the company’s bureaucracy.

That means changing the size of its roughly 200 thousand person global workforce, which includes about 70 thousand salaried employees.

Officials say the specific number of employees affected should be known by the middle of next year.

The Dearborn-based automaker had already announced it wants to cut more than $25 billion in operating costs over the next half-decade.
