Paradise Papers could offer insight into Republican tax plan, say experts

The Republican Tax Plan passed the US. House of Representatives last week and included a 15 percent cut to corporate tax rates.

Republicans behind the bill argue it will incentivize corporations to invest offshore money back into the country.

But not everyone is so sure.

Professor Cindy Schipani teaches business law at the University of Michigan. She says the release of the Paradise Papers, which revealed corporations are keeping millions of dollars in offshore tax havens, may show that no matter how low corporate tax rates go it won’t bring money back to the states.
