You’ll notice a few changes to the WCMU Public Radio Weekend beginning the first full weekend of October. We’re excited about the additions of It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders and the pairing of Planet Money/How I Built This. You’ll also notice that some of your favorites may have a new start time to make room for the new programs from NPR.
First off, The Set List is moving to Friday night at 7 beginning October 6th, followed by World Café, which can now be heard Monday through Friday at 9pm.
Saturday we make room for Sam Sanders. During last year's election, he quickly emerged as a compelling new voice, and became a fan favorite as one of the hosts of the NPR Politics Podcast. Sam’s basic concept: The world is complicated and people are, too — and sometimes you just need to talk it out. Catch It’s Been a Minute with Sam Sanders on WCMU Saturday morning at 10, and on WCMU News & Talk Saturday at 10am and Sunday at 4pm.
Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me! moves to Saturday at 11am, followed by The Beat with David Nicholas at Noon. Saturday night will see The Putumayo World Music Hour move to 9pm, followed by Afropop Worldwide at 10pm.
We have two new shows for your Sunday morning. Planet Money explains the economy with playful storytelling and Peabody award-winning deep dive, roll up your sleeves journalism. The team includes Robert Smith, Jacob Goldstein, Stacey Vanek Smith, Noel King, Ailsa Chang and Kenny Malone. Guy Raz hosts How I Built This, where innovators, entrepreneurs, and idealists take us through the often challenging journeys they took to build their now iconic companies. The two half-hour programs pair perfectly with a focus on the economy and business. Catch them beginning Sunday morning at 10, and on WCMU News & Talk Saturday at 7pm and Sunday at 10am.
This American Life will stay on at 11am, now followed by The Splendid Table at Noon. A Prairie Home Companion moves to 1pm, followed by The Thistle & Shamrock at 3pm.
