Juke Joint - October 3, 2021

This week on "The Juke Joint" broadcast Robert Barclay offered a tribute to George Wein, the founder of the Newport Jazz and Folk Festivals and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. He included music by John Lee Hooker, Reverend Gary Davis, Professor Longhair, Neville Brothers, Muddy Waters, Bob Dylan, Lightnin' Hopkins, Clifton Chenier and Marcia Ball. He also played four more tunes by the Rolling Stones in memory of their drummer, Charlie Watts.

Robert Barclay launched "The Juke Joint" broadcast on WCMU in April 1985. It has been a Sunday night fixture from 8:00-11:00 pm ever since. A devoted listener dubbed him the "Duke of Juke." He includes nearly a century's worth of blues history on his program including traditional and contemporary blues along with boogie woogie, soul music, rhythm & blues, zydeco and gospel music.
