Every day on 'Mosaic,' David Nicholas presents a wide range of music, as well as conversations about the arts and culture from across central and northern Michigan. 

Science and the Arts are joining forces at CMU in several collaborative projects.  After being published in Teaching Arts Journal, Forbes Magazine brought the work to national attention.  The university colleagues joined Mosaic Host David Nicholas in studio to talk about their creative partnerships.

What is Music Therapy?  Who might benefit from it?  Professor Ed Roth is the Director of Music Therapy at Western Michigan University.  He will discuss the field and its applications in a talk “Of Molecules and Melodies: The Neurochemistry of Music” this Saturday in Coleman.  The event is presented by the Midland Section of the American Chemical Society and Faith United Methodist Church.  Professor Roth talked about the history and latest trends in music therapy with David Nicholas, host of Mosaic.

Imagine time travel back to 1775 at Colonial Michilimackinac!!  Author Marie LaPres’ book “Beyond the Fort” takes you there.  The author joined David Nicholas in studio during Mosaic this morning…

In advance of the 15th Annual Traverse City Film Festival, Central Michigan University will be in the spotlight with works by film students and the screening of a documentary about women in the broadcast industry.  “Breaking the Sound Barrier,” produced by Patty Williamson and Eric Limarenko, will be shown Sunday, July 28 at 6:00 pm at the Bijou by the Bay Theater. The filmmakers joined David Nicholas in studio during Mosaic to talk about the project.

The inaugural Michigan Authors’ Workshop Series will be held in Midland July 22-26.  The guests and events will feature readings and writing and workshops by Michigan writers.  Helen Raica-Klotz from Saginaw Valley State University is the coordinator of the event – she joined David Nicholas in studio during Mosaic to share a preview.
