After the FBI and State officials revealed an alleged plot to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Whitmer said she hoped the - “sick and depraved men" will be brought to justice.

In an afternoon press conference Governor Whitmer thanked members of law enforcement who charged and brought in the 13 men who were allegedly involved in a plan to kidnap her.

She then swiftly turned her reaction to the COVID-19 crisis, and condemning Republicans at the statewide and national level for failing to forcefully condemn extremist groups that have been fixtures at protests against Whitmer’s orders.

“When our leaders meet with, encourage, or fraternize with domestic terrorists they legitimize their actions and they are complicit," said Whitmer. "When they stoke and contribute to hate speech, they are complicit.”

Whitmer also referenced the President’s failure to condemn white supremacists in a Presidential debate last week.
