US Coast Guard investigating airplane flown under the Mackinac Bridge

Odalaigh

The US Coast Guard is looking for information about a plane that flew beneath to the Mackinac Bridge on June 28th.

The investigation is in conjunction with the Michigan State Police.

Chief Petty Officer John Masson with the Coast Guard said investigators are looking for any information that can help them identify the airplane.

“That could be video, that could be an eyewitness account of somebody who saw it.”

Masson said flying that close to the bridge is reckless and is a misdemeanor offense.

“Under Michigan state law that’s a misdemeanor that’s reckless operation of an aircraft,” he said. “It obviously imperils the lives of people who are on the bridge at the time.”
