The speaker of the Michigan House of Representatives will testify at Larry Inman’s criminal trial.

A federal judge will make Lee Chatfield take the stand after it starts next Tuesday. Chatfield argued he couldn’t be pulled away from the State House… which is in session next week.

And Inman’s attorneys said his testimony would be irrelevant. But Federal Judge Robert Jonker threw all that out.

In an order to the court, he said Chatfield can work around the trial’s schedule… and he can speak to Inman’s state of mind during his alleged crimes. Michael Naughton is an attorney that has worked to get Representative Inman removed from office.

He says the court’s job is to determine someone’s guilt or innocence.

“We don’t stop that because people have jobs, whether they’re a legislator or a home healthcare nurse.”

As of Tuesday evening calls to Chatfield’s spokesman lawyers and office went unanswered.
