On Thursday, Senator Debbie Stabenow released a report titled “The Climate Crisis in Michigan.” The report documents the impact of climate change in Michigan and how the changes are affecting Michigan’s way of life.

It said the climate changes have affected many different parts of life from agriculture to public health, many of which have been making headlines over the past year.

According to the report, the changing climate has led to more exposure from disease-carrying mosquitoes, high water levels across the Great Lakes, extreme weather changes, and delays in planting which are impacting crops.

The report said Michigan is an energy leader, “ranking first in the Midwest for clean energy jobs and fifth in the country.” Officials say they expect to see clean energy jobs grow another 9% this year.

Sen. Stabenow said “While there is no silver bullet to address this crisis, Michigan is poised to lead the way in finding solutions.” She said Michigan could make big changes in the climate crisis by investing more in renewable energies and new vehicle technologies to lower emissions.
