Forecasters said water levels throughout the Great Lakes Basin reached levels that had not been seen for over a century
In 2019, Lakes Erie, Ontario, and St. Clair broke records while Lakes Michigan-Huron and Superior came within an inch of setting new record highs.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineer Chief of Watershed Hydrology, Keith Kompoltowicz, said 2020 will bring in more of the same.
“It does look like the high water trend is going to continue along with some potential new record highs now on Michigan-Huron as well.”
Kompoltowicz said if Michigan continues seeing an active winter. The snow and storms could lead to more record lake levels in 2020.
