Michigan Senate Republicans who investigated the state's presidential election say there was no widespread or systemic fraud, something that has been known for months following audits by the Secretary of State.In a report released Wednesday, the lawmakers also urge the state attorney general to consider investigating people who have made false allegations about results in Antrim County to raise money or publicity “for their own ends.”
Still, Republicans are pushing through bills they say enhance the security of elections.
Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum says the report is too little too late and says the report doesn’t offer anything new.
“I fear that this report is a little too late to stop the chaos that Republicans have stoked for months, which is evidenced by the dozens of election bills that have been introduced in Michigan without true consultation with election administrators.”
Donald Trump lost to Joe Biden in Michigan by about 150-thousand votes.
Since then, Trump and his allies have pushed debunked conspiracy theories and false information about voter fraud.
