Michigan infrastruture summits planned for June

The Michigan Infrastructure Council will host summits in 17 counties over the next month to discuss infrastructure in Michigan.

According to the council, the goal is to have conversations about collaborating with local and regional groups involved with infrastructure.

The organization said it would like to remove barriers to asset management and create shared standards across the board.

The Executive Director for the council, Jessica Moy, said working toward a “dig once” strategy would be beneficial to the state.

“Looking at our water utilities, gas and electric, and our telecom at that same time as we open the roads, so (we’re) trying to bring together all of the different silos of infrastructure,” Moy said.

Each event will be two and a half hours with guided discussions, presentations and interactive problem-solving activities.

Regional summit locations include Clare, Grand Traverse, Chippewa, Midland, Crawford and Lapeer counties.
