The number of COVID-19 cases in Michigan is at the highest case rate since the beginning of early last May.

Michigan’s chief medical executive and chief deputy director for health and human services Dr. Joneigh Khaldun says the number of Coronavirus cases are rising in the state as well as the state’s hospitalization rate and deaths from the novel virus.

“This is still a new virus, we all need to be wearing a mask," said Khaldun. "We all need to be protecting ourselves and not gathering and washing our hands. The virus is still present and we need to do everything we can to prevent the spread.”

Dr. Khaldun says she is not planning any indoor large family gatherings for the upcoming holidays as a health precaution during the current pandemic.
