More than 33 hundred people are hospitalized with coronavirus in Michigan now, and the numbers are going up in all regions of the state.
According to the state's Department of Health and Human Services, West Michigan saw its hospitalizations double in seven days.
Active outbreaks also increased by 14-percent since last week. Most have been associated with schools.
MDHHS Director Elizabeth Hertel said they are monitoring outbreaks among young people and athletes.
"Yeah again, our focus right now continues on being, in making sure that we are getting as many people vaccinated as possible. I think it's also important to remember that we still do have a number of restrictions in place that limit gathering sizes pretty significantly."
When it comes to K-12 sports, basketball, hockey and wrestling have seen the highest cases since January.
