Juke Joint: June 2, 2019

This week on "The Juke Joint" broadcast, Robert Barclay noted the passing of Leon Redbone and Tony "Little Sun" Glover. He also shared stories from Bruce Iglauer about being on the road with Hound Dog Taylor and Elvin Bishop discussed his education in the southside Chicago blues clubs. He also shared details about taking "The Juke Joint" on the road to Petoskey on June 15th for a blues party open to the public.

Robert Barclay launched "The Juke Joint" broadcast on WCMU in April 1985. It has been a Sunday night fixture from 8:00-11:00 pm ever since. A devoted listener dubbed him the "Duke of Juke." He includes nearly a century's worth of blues history on his program including traditional and contemporary blues along with boogie woogie, soul music, rhythm & blues, zydeco and gospel music.
