Grand Rapids Public Schools will stick with all virtual learning for students through at least January 4th – the start of the second semester. That’s due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in Kent County.
Grand Rapids Public Schools had initially planned to implement a hybrid face to face and virtual learning plan starting on October 26th. That’s next Monday. But cases of COVID-19 have been steadily increasing since September. Officials with Grand Rapids Public Schools say the reality is the data is headed in the wrong direction for Kent County and the back and forth with potential closings will be more disruptive than just staying virtual now. They say the district will keep working on improving the virtual learning experience for all students, especially those with the greatest needs.
