Free drive-through COVID testing offered in Petoskey this weekend

The National Guard

The Northwest Michigan health department has announced it will hold free COVID-19 drive through testing in Petoskey this weekend.

The testing will be held at the Odawa Casino.

Dr. Joshua Meyerson is the Medical Director of the Department. He said normally testing requires residents to have health insurance. This drive-through testing won’t require anything.

“You don’t need an appointment. Any Michigan resident can get testing and there is no charge. Nothing is billed whatsoever. You just need to show up.”

Meyerson said the testing will run from 10-4 on Saturday and Sunday. He said testing doesn’t take long and they’re hoping for a good turnout.

“Last weekend they had over 800 people tested in Grand Traverse County, and in Mackinaw City, a little under 500 people were tested in two days.”

Testing results take about a week.

The testing is done in conjunction with the health department, Little Traverse Bay Band of Ottawa Indians, and the National Guard.
