A Democrat running for northern Michigan’s seat in US Congress has left the race.

Dwight Brady announced he’s formally ending his campaign this week.

Brady is a communications professor at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

He says he made the decision partially because he was behind in fundraising.

“It’s a lot to do to hold down a full-time job and do all the fundraising and campaigning that is necessary. But I must say that I had a great summer campaigning throughout the district from Gogebic County all the way down to Alcona County.”

Brady says he’s not yet endorsing the only Democrat left in the race.

Matt Morgan is a retired Marine Corps officer who lives in Traverse City.

Republican Congressman Jack Bergman is running forre-election.
