Michigan’s congressional delegation is divided over legislation creating a so-called “parental bills of rights”

Steve Carmody reports...

"The House Resolution Five would amend federal law to require schools to provide parents with a list of books and reading materials available in the school library as well as posting curriculum publicly.

The legislation passed on a largely party line vote.

Republican Representative Tim Walberg praised H-R 5....saying it ensures parents always have a seat at the table when it comes to their child’s upbringing and education.

But Democrat Rashida Tlaib accuses her G-O-P colleagues of passing of legislation to ban books, censor school curriculum, and target trans youth.

The legislation is not expected to pass in the Democratic controlled U-S Senate."
