Whitmer announces $750 million Pfizer investment

Michigan officials are celebrating a new $750 million investment from the drugmaker Pfizer into its Kalamazoo manufacturing facility.

This is the second major Pfizer investment in the operation this year.

The state is highlighting the projects as proof Michigan’s economic development incentives are paying off.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer says she’d like lawmakers to pass new funding for programs, even as the clock winds down on the legislative term.

“My hope is that we will still see some activity out of the Legislature during lame duck and this is a priority of mine. If, as it appears maybe there’s not going to be a robust agenda for lame duck, then we will get it done soon as we convene the next legislature.” said Whitmer.

State officials did not give specifics on any incentives package Pfizer may receive.
