City of Detroit says COVID-19 transmission is considered high

The City of Detroit says its COVID-19 transmission is now considered high by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The agency recommends that residents in high transmission areas like Detroit wear masks at all public indoor settings, even if they’re vaccinated.

44 percent of Detroiters age 12 and up have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

Detroit officials say the Delta variant accounts for nearly every new case in the city.

It’s considered to be twice as contagious as the original COVID strain.
