Two Democratic state representatives are introducing bills that would add more appointments at Secretary of State offices.
Two Democratic Representatives, Stephanie Young and Julie Brixie, have introduced bills that would pay for overtime and add temporary staff positions to Secretary of State offices through the end of September.
Brixie says the measures are an effort to use federal COVID relief funding to address the massive backlog caused by the pandemic.
"We've never been in a situation where the secretary of state's office has been forced to process a 13 month backlog on top of their normal business."
The chair of the House Oversight Committee, Representative Steven Johnson says he's not interested in considering any measures that don't include options for walk-in appointments.
