Michigan House Democrat Lasinski on new mask rules with people getting COVID-19 vaccine

Michigan adopted new masking rules over the weekend.People who have been vaccinated, no longer have to wear masks, both outdoors and indoors.

Anyone, regardless of vaccination status, can go without a mask outside.

There’s concern that the new order will slow the state’s already flagging vaccination rate.

Speaking on WDET, Michigan House Democratic Leader Donna Lasinski says she thinks people in the state will seek out the immunizations regardless of the new rules.

“I truly believe we need to get the information out. help folks see how safe the vaccines are and I believe our vaccination rates will continue to climb.”

Just over 55-percent of Michigan residents have received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. That trails the national average.
