U.S. Senator Gary Peters visited a COVID-19 vaccination site at Michigan State University today (THURSDAY), hoping to encourage people to get their shots.

Peters chairs the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which has approved $50-billion dollars to support vaccine programs like the one run by the Ingham County Health Department at the MSU Pavilion.

The Michigan Democrat says the federal government is helping local health departments run education campaigns showing that the vaccines are safe and effective.

“We know this is the path to normalcy that we all are craving and that we need to do that as quickly as we can,” said Peters.

Senator Peters says the federal government will continue to provide the resources local health departments need to get more shots in arms.
