Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies delivered his fourth State of the City address in an online presentation this week.

In remarks recorded in his office on the 14th floor of Jackson City Hall, Dobies pointed to achievements including more than $5-million dollars in street and trail improvements, and declining crime statistics.

“My last three years as Mayor have seen a 13% reduction in overall crime," said Dobies. "Those three years have witnessed the lowest crime rates in more than 30 years.”

Dobies credits Police Chief Elmer Hitt and the Jackson police department for the falling crime rate.

Looking forward, Dobies says he hopes to address the replacement of lead service lines and encourage urban farming in the year ahead.
