Nessel says some lawyers behind election lawsuits should be disciplined

State of Michigan

Following the November presidential election, Republican lawyers filed a string of lawsuits filed in battleground states, including here in Michigan. Their goal was to throw out results in order to re-elect Donald Trump.

The effort did not work, citing a combination of misinformation and lack of standing, one by one, all of the suits were denied by judges.

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says she believes the lawyers who filed those mistake-filled briefs should face sanctions and also wants the lawyers who sued to overturn the state’s presidential election disciplined.

“You know if you will have your name attached to it, and you have made intentional misrepresentations of facts to the court, I absolutely believe that you ought to be held accountable.”

Fighting the GOP’s lawsuits required state funds so Nessel says she is seeking reimbursement for attorney’s fees and court costs.
