Michigan elector believes the Electoral College should be abolished

One of the Michigan electors who cast his vote for President-elect Joe Biden this week says the Electoral College should be abolished. Kalamazoo Township Clerk Mark Miller and 15 other electors met Monday at the state Capitol to vote for Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris. Miller says that shouldn’t be necessary:

“Honestly, I love the pageantry of it," said Miller. "I think it’s an 18th century anachronism. We should elect our executive the way other country in the world does, simply by the popular vote.”

Miller says the electoral college is now an “automatic process.” He says it’s not up to the judgement of the electors.
