MDHHS COVID Update

http://dhhs.michigan.gov

State COVID-19 numbers continue to rise.

The state health department says COVID cases are rising among all races and age groups across the state of Michigan.

Long-term care facilities and K-through-12 schools continue to record the most disease outbreaks. But department director Robert Gordon says outbreaks are easier to identify in those settings.

He says for less structured settings, the number might be an undercount.

"With restaurants and bars we are talking about places where a person might spend an hour. And it is much harder to draw those connections."

The department says many people testing positive for COVID don’t know where they were exposed to the virus.

A health order went into effect this Wednesday tightening restrictions at places like restaurants and high schools.
