Amid a spike in Coronavirus infections in the state Governor Gretchen Whitmer has signed another executive order strengthening and clarifying mask requirements.

Now, businesses cannot assume unmasked customers have a medical exemption but can take the customer’s word for it.

Whitmer says wearing a mask is the quickest way for things to get back to normal.

“For the sake of our neighbors, and for our loved ones and for our communities for our heroes on the front line for kids who want to return to school in the fall for our businesses that want to stay open or have the chance to open, it is incumbent on all Michiganders, to do their part and to step up and mask up so that we can fight this virus,” said Whitmer.

Public safety officers must wear masks unless it prevents them from doing their job. Voters are not required to wear a mask at polling locations but it is strongly encouraged.

Today (FRI) the state health department announced an additional 660 Coronavirus cases and seven more deaths.
