Republican and Democratic candidates will be traveling the state as the clock ticks down to Election Day.

Candidates are crisscrossing the state to get people excited to vote. Political experts say voter enthusiasm is going to be key to getting people to the polls. Democratic candidate Gretchen Whitmer has more than 70 campaign stops planned over the next few days, saying,

“We must keep our foot on the gas.”

And Republican candidate Bill Schuette says he’s got his own campaign stops planned. He remarks,

“There’s no stopping us, this is about going forward.”

The candidates have brought in some heavy hitters to encourage people to vote. Vice President Mike Pence was in Michigan Monday to stump for Republican candidates. And former president Barack Obama was in Michigan last week.

Sarah Anderson is a spokesperson for the Michigan Republican Party. She says you’ll see Republican candidates holding get out the vote events across the state.

“We want to get our candidates out in front of as many voters as possible so they get a chance to meet them, hear from them, so they know what Republicans are offering.”

Democrats will hold a Get Out the Vote rally with former Vice President Joe Biden this Thursday, along with other events leading up to Election Day.
