COVID-19 Pandemic is coming to an end

WCMU Public Radio

The University of Michigan physician and professor who helped coin the term “Flatten the curve” which we heard a lot at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic says there are many signs it is coming to an end.

The director of the University of Michigan center for the history of medicine, author and physician Dr. Howard Markel says pandemics don’t end in an obvious way. He says they just sort of fizzle out or trail off.

“That’s very promising and I think it looks a lot better today than it did 8 weeks ago or 12 weeks ago”

Dr. Markel says the best way you can end the pandemic for yourself is to get vaccinated.

He says the vaccine is so effective it greatly reduces your odds of getting COVID and offers strong protection from the virus.   He adds with good mass vaccination more and more public events will be safe moving forward.
