Officials say Mid-Michigan Manufacturers could start to feel the effects of a halt in the auto industry.

Officials said after the big three auto manufacturers closed, suppliers may find themselves in a pinch over the next few weeks.

Harry Lever is the executive director of the Central Michigan Manufacturers Association. He said big closures will trickle down to rural businesses.

"None of them are closed at this point in time. None of them have contemplated closing. The change now with the automotive’s closing will have an impact that we will start to see in short order here.”

Lever said many businesses in Mid-Michigan won’t feel as much impact because they’ve diversified businesses and are not completely tied to the auto industry.
