Mid-Michigan agriscience program participates in "Drive Your Tractor to School Day"
The start of the school day sounded a little different today in Mid-Michigan. Coleman Regional Agriscience FFA members participated in a “Drive Your Tractor to School Day” to create awareness around agriscience and inspire a new generation of farmers.
Students paraded through downtown Coleman on a variety of modern and antique tractors before stopping at the elementary school.
Students were invited to view the tractors and participate in egg races, tug-of-war, and agriscience activities.
Marie Zwemmer, an educator for the Coleman Regional Agriscience Center, said the day’s activities are meant to celebrate the seniors’ last day and connect with the community.
“Every activity that we do, we try to connect a little bit of something that we teach. Just to spark an interest with the little ones that this is something that they have to look forward to, and that they can come here when they're older.”
Zwemmer says the event has doubled in participation with over 20 tractors participating this year.
