The state Legislature returns this week – but they’ll likely save big issues for after the election. Although they’re scheduled to meet next week as well –those session days could get canceled.

Michigan lawmakers voted today to keep two measures off the November ballot. One to increase the state’s minimum wage, another to require that employees get earned sick time.

Details of a proposed settlement between Michigan State University and survivors of Larry Nassar have come to light. Nassar is the former MSU sports doctor who will likely spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting his patients.

A condition of the settlement has upset some state lawmakers.

Michigan has about 150 new laws. Governor Rick Snyder finished going through a pile of bills that were sent to him before the Legislature went on its summer break.
