Many people will be enjoying a bit of a warm up in temperatures this week. Meteorologists are predicting warmer temperatures through Thursday, before cold moves in again.

Mike Kurz is a Meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Gaylord.

He said a strong cold front is expected move through the area Thursday night.

"That's going to usher in a pretty quick switch back to the colder temperatures," Kurz said.

He also said January is predicted to be warmer than normal but winter is expected to round out with near normal, cold temperatures.

"Looking into February and March, we'll probably finish a little cooler than normal," Kurz said. "For the remainder of the winter."

Although the winter is expected to finish cooler than normal, it is unlikely for another outbreak of arctic temperatures.
