U.S and Canadian officials will meet next week in Toronto to talk about the Great Lakes. It’s the 63rd year of the international effort by the Great Lakes Fishery Commission.

The annual meeting focuses on science, sea lamprey control, and cross-border cooperation on the Great Lakes.

Marc Gaden is the communications director for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. He said a number of topics will be covered this year.

“What are the fish stocks up to, we’ll hear about some efforts to restore native species like Atlantic Salmon and Lake Trout, we’ll hear about some of the policies that are going on in the United States and Canada regarding issues like climate change.”

Gaden said this is the first year the commission plans to talk about climate change.

The meetings are scheduled for May 9th from 1:15pm to 5pm and the 10th from 8:30am to 12pm at 225 Front Street West, Toronto.
