Early enrollment for the Flint Registry, which will track the health and well-being of people impacted by the water crisis, opened on Monday.

The program will track the health of anyone impacted by the Flint water crisis, from full-time residents to people who worked or studied in the city.

Nicole Jones is the Director of the Flint Registry Project. She said the goal is to get as many people involved in the project as possible.

“Officially pre-enrollment phase means we are collecting names of individuals who are interested in enrolling when we officially launch later this fall.”

Jones said people who participate in the registry will begin by filling out a baseline health survey.

“The data that we get from the registry we will be able to use to understand what are the ongoing concerns for the citizens that were exposed and making sure that people are connecting to services, making sure we’re using all of the resources available and getting people the help that they need.”

Jones said the more people who enroll in the registry, the better data the project will have on the long-term health impacts of the water crisis.

“The registry is only going to be as powerful as the number of people we enroll. So it’s really important that we enroll as many people as possible to really make the tool powerful to show what the needs of the Flint community are.”

The registry is supported by a four year, fourteen million dollar congressional grant.

Jones said the project will connect people impacted by the water crisis to resources and to develop a long-term look at the impact of the crisis on health.
